Missouri sports organizations team up to build homes in Joplin

Governor Jay Nixon (left) outlined his challenge to Missouri sports teams to help rebuild Joplin.

Governor Jay Nixon is putting Missouri's athletic organizations to work in helping to rebuild Joplin.

Teaming with the Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity, Nixon is challenging members from the St. Louis Rams and Cardinals among other teams across the state to build 35 houses by June.

 "When people know that these sports teams are coming, and when they see the players and the other folks, it really really helps," said Nixon.

Perron returns to Blues lineup on Saturday

Blues right-winger David Perron, being introduced here at the Blues' home opener on Oct. 8th, will return to the line-up on Saturday after missing 97 games with post-concussion syndrome.

After 13 months and 97 games, David Perron is ready to lace up the skates once again.

The St. Louis Blues announced today that Perron, the 23-year-old right-winger, will be on the ice when the Blues take on their division rival Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. Perron suffered a concussion on Nov. 4, 2010 after being  hit by Joe Thornton of the San Jose Sharks and hasn't played since.

Ken Hitchcock: a new head coach for the St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues have a new head coach. The team introduced Ken Hitchcock to the media Monday, after firing Davis Payne on Sunday.

Payne had a record of 67-55-and-15 over parts of three seasons for the Blues. Team general manager Doug Armstrong says while they're just 13 games into this year's schedule, it was time for a change.
