If you're driving in the St. Louis area this weekend, be patient. The Missouri Department of Transportation will have a lot of crews out there, and that means lane closures.

Major construction projects planned for I-64

Planned resurfacing and painting work on I-64 in downtown St. Louis will cause delays next spring. MoDOT will also build five new bridges and a new interchange at Tower Grove/Boyle.

St. Louisans can expect delays on Interstate 64 next spring as the Missouri Department of Transportation gets ready for major road construction on the highway east of Kingshighway.

The projects will be the subject of a public meeting on Thursday night at Stix Early Childhood Center, 647 Tower Grove Ave. They include:

Travel delays in downtown St. Louis are likely this weekend

Lane closures on Interstate 64 and the Poplar Street Bridge will cause backups for drivers in downtown this weekend.

If you're heading downtown this weekend, be patient - roadwork by the Missouri Department of Transportation is probably going to cause back-ups.

MoDOT crews will be closing all lanes of Interstate 64 from Jefferson through the Poplar Street Bridge at 3 a.m. Saturday, with the lanes re-opening Sunday afternoon around 3. An eastbound lane and  two westbound lanes of the Poplar Street Bridge will close at 5 a.m. Saturday and re-open around 5 p.m. Sunday.  All the lane closures are needed so crews can do earthquake retrofit work.
