Last provision of Mo. law aimed at curbing auto extended service contract industry takes effect

Republican Senator Scott Rupp sponsored the legislation after he says he received lots of complaints about the businesses in his suburban St. Louis district. 

The last portion of the law to take effect requires the extended contract service providers, and their employees, to apply for a license with the Missouri Department of Insurance.

A screen capture of a video taken of the destruction following a tornado in Joplin, Mo. Dozens of fatalities resulting from the storm have already been confirmed in the area.

Devastation in Joplin Following Tornado

Rescue workers are searching for survivors following a massive tornado that blasted a four-mile path across southwestern Missouri slamming into the city of Joplin with cataclysmic force. The tornado last night ripped into a hospital, destroyed neighborhoods and upended cars.

Eighty-nine people have been confirmed dead.

Mo. Supreme Court affirms Bowman's murder conviction, reverses death row sentence

The Missouri Supreme Court has affirmed the murder conviction for Gregory Bowman, but reversed the sentence that put him on death row.

The court ruled today that St. Louis County jurors should not have heard about Bowman's two prior murder convictions during sentencing because those convictions were overturned.
