If you need to get across the Missouri River from Chesterfield to St. Charles County on Sept. 25, plan ahead - your normal route won't be open.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is closing the westbound span of the Daniel Boone Bridge, which carries Interstate 64 over the Missouri River, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. Workers must inspect the 1930s-era bridge, which carries more than 75,000 cars a day.

St. Louisans can expect delays on Interstate 64 next spring as the Missouri Department of Transportation gets ready for major road construction on the highway east of Kingshighway.

The projects will be the subject of a public meeting on Thursday night at Stix Early Childhood Center, 647 Tower Grove Ave. They include:

If you're heading downtown this weekend, be patient - roadwork by the Missouri Department of Transportation is probably going to cause back-ups.

MoDOT crews will be closing all lanes of Interstate 64 from Jefferson through the Poplar Street Bridge at 3 a.m. Saturday, with the lanes re-opening Sunday afternoon around 3. An eastbound lane and  two westbound lanes of the Poplar Street Bridge will close at 5 a.m. Saturday and re-open around 5 p.m. Sunday.  All the lane closures are needed so crews can do earthquake retrofit work.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has canceled some lane closures on the Poplar Street Bridge this weekend.

All lanes on the Poplar Street Bridge will be open this weekend, though the department will still close the I-55 northbound exit ramp from 11 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday. 

Some of the work can't be done in the predicted rainy weather, says MoDOT spokeswoman Kara Price, though she says crews may also have taken into consideration the numerous events at downtown venues this weekend.
