Former St. Clair County, Ill. educator Brad Harriman has picked up the endorsement of retiring Congressman Jerry Costello in the race to fill Costello's seat.

A former regional superintendent for St. Clair County, Ill. has picked up the endorsement of retiring Congressman Jerry Costello in the race to replace the 10-term Congressman.

Costello announced his decision to endorse Brad Harriman on Saturday with the following statement:

Congressman praises river port potential to Chinese delegation

An Illinois Congressman and US transportation officials are talking up a Granite City river port to a Chinese delegation exploring new trade routes to the American market.

Congressman Jerry Costello touted the access America's Central Port has to railroads and highways during a visit from China's Vice Minister of Maritime Affairs, Xu Zuyuan.

Costello said a harbor to be completed next year will give a strategic advantage in moving imports and exports.

Plummer formally announces run for Costello congressional seat

After an unsuccessful run for Ill. Lt. Governor last year, Jason Plummer has formally announced he's running for the soon-to-be-vacant Illinois 12th Congressional District seat currently held by a retiring Jerry Costello.

According to the announcement, Plummer will focus on "reining in reckless spending, reform of our tax and regulatory structure, and getting government out of the way of small businesses so the U.S. economy can get moving forward again."
