Workers threaten to shut down construction on Mississippi River bridge

A group that's trying to get more construction jobs for minority workers says it'll shut down work on a new Mississippi River bridge near St. Louis. The Metro East Black Contractors Organization says it's meeting with the director of the Illinois Department of Transportation on Friday. The group says it'll shut down work on Monday if the meeting isn't satisfactory.

Search for Mo. state trooper now recovery effort

Big Lake, Mo., where recovery efforts for the body of Missouri State Police trooper Fred Guthrie Jr. are taking place. Guthrie was helping with flood duties in Holt County on Monday when he apparently was swept away by the flood waters.

Updated 7:50 a.m. Wednesday:

Searchers located the body of Fred Guthrie's patrol dog Reed on Tuesday afternoon near Mo. Highway 118 in Holt County, about 100 yards from the location where Trooper Guthrie's truck and boat were found on Monday. The search for the trooper's body continues.
