Some fans "nervous," others "feeling positive" about Cardinals' outlook on Opening Day

Fans celebrated Opening Day for the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis.

Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter took the mound earlier today against the San Diego Padres for Opening Day of the Cardinals' season.

Chris Novak from Maryland Heights is attending his ninth-straight opening day.

Like many Redbirds fans, Novak says he's hoping the Cardinals find a way to re-sign their MVP first-baseman Albert Pujols when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Plane Carrying Bond and Wainwright Makes Slippery Landing at Lambert

Former Missouri Senator Kit Bond and Cardinals star pitcher Adam Wainwright were on board a flight that had to make a slippery landing at Lambert Airport this weekend. The two were among about 140 passengers on a Delta Air Lines jet that slid off the runway while landing in a snowstorm Saturday afternoon.

  • St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay calls a new report documenting a plummeting population "absolutely bad news." News U.S. Census figures released Thursday show that the Gateway City lost nearly 29,000 people over the past decade, a decline of about 8 percent of its population. The reports said the city had a population of a little more than 319,000 in 2010.
