Mo. House Dems propose rules for induction into Hall of Famous Missourians
Missouri House Democrats are proposing new criteria and a requirement for bipartisan approval before people are inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians - a reaction to criticism of the selection of Rush Limbaugh for the honor.
The Democrats' proposal would require that selections into the Hall of Famous Missourians be supported by three of the four top legislative leaders. It also would cap inductions at two people for every two years. Currently, inductees are chosen by the speaker of the Missouri House.
Proposed new requirements for the Hall of Famous Missourians were released Thursday to The Associated Press.
House Speaker Steven Tilley said earlier this month that Limbaugh is among the world's best-known radio personalities and that others who have been inducted also have faced controversy.
