Lippmann returned to her native St. Louis after spending two years covering state government in Lansing, Michigan. She earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and followed (though not directly) in Maria Altman's footsteps in Springfield, also earning her graduate degree in public affairs reporting. She's also done reporting stints in Detroit, Michigan and Austin, Texas. Rachel likes to fill her free time with good books, good friends, good food, and good baseball.

Zoo visitors get first view of new zebra foals

Spring marks a lot of firsts in the city of St. Louis - the first pitch, the first Ted Drewes concrete, the first of the daffodils along area highways.

There's a special "first" this year for visitors to the St. Louis Zoo - a chance to see two new Grevy's zebra foals as they venture outside for the first time after their births.

Asante was born in November, and his half-sister Zuri arrived in January. Now that the weather has warmed up, Zuri and Asante are outside with the rest of the herd.

Court rejects fire district request to share taxes

Audit gives U-City a "C" for management

A state audit of University City found weak accounting controls and problems with delinquent trash bills.

A state review of University City made public today gives the municipality a "C" when it comes to its management practices.

St. Louis aldermanic president calls state Senator "not fit to lead"

The newly re-elected President of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen has called a controversial state Senator "unfit to lead," and is asking her to step down over remarks she made about black politicians who are supporting local control of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
