Kelsey Proud is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where she earned a Convergence (Multimedia) Journalism degree. She has worked at PBS Interactive in Washington, D.C., MSN UK News in London and is a social media enthusiast. Kelsey feels journalism is truly a public service and hopes her work enhances community and reaches those who need information most.  Though she's "from" Chicago, Kelsey has also lived in several different regions of the United States, including periods of time in North Carolina, Ohio, New Mexico and Illinois. Her extended family has roots in Boone and Audrain counties in Missouri, too. She is a wannabe chef and globe trekker, former competitive golfer and band-ie (trumpet), and honorary Missourian.

Ouch! St. Louis Among Worst Cities For Dog Attacks Of Postal Workers

The U.S. Postal Service says that 32 times in FY2012, postal workers in St. Louis had interactions with dogs that were definitely not this cute.

The "postal worker gets attacked by dog" theme is tired, to be sure. But 32 times in FY2012, postal workers in St. Louis were the unfortunate players in real-life versions of the storied situation.

The Atlantic has highlighted the 'Worst Cities for Dog Attacks, According to the U.S. Postal Service' and St. Louis sits at number 7 on the USPS list.

The St. Louis Symphony continues its 2012-2013 season this weekend, and you can be right there with them from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.

Missouri, Illinois Control Towers Slated To Close Due To Sequester To Stay Open, For Now

The Transportation Departments says 149 control towers at small airports that were slated for closure will remain - open at least through Sept. 30.

The department sent out a brief statement Friday. It says Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has determined there is enough extra money, under a bill passed by Congress last month, to keep the towers open through the end of the budget year.

The prices for a given procedure can vary by tens of thousands of dollars.

Over 19,000 Veterans Are Waiting On A Disability Claim Response From The St. Louis VA

As of May 6, 2013, there were 19,900 veterans waiting to hear a response from the St. Louis Regional VA "about compensation for a disease, injury or illness linked to service in the military."

Where does that number, and classification of it, come from? The Center for Investigative Reporting has released a huge set of data (which is periodically updated) from the nation's Department of Veterans' Affairs and its local offices.
