Leonard Slatkin is well known to St. Louis audiences because of his long tenure at the helm of the St. Louis Symphony.  He returns to St.

Jackie Robinson was a baseball player who broke the so-called “color barrier,” becoming the first African American player in Major League Baseball’s modern era.

He debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

St. Louis’ Metro Theater Company presents a play about the life of Jackie Robinson called Jackie and Me.

The production follows Joey Stoshack, a boy who discovers a rare baseball card is his ticket to travel back in time to Branch Rickey’s office on the day Robinson becomes an MLB player.

St. Louisan Ken Page is an actor and director.  He has an accomplished career including prominent roles in the original Broadway production of Cats and Ain’t Misbehavin’.  You also may recognize him as the voice of Oogie Boogie in The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Page, who describes his new work, Café Chanson, as “ballet in song,” talked with host Steve Potter, along with Philip Boehm, the artistic director of Upstream Theater.

When Stefania Silvestri was 14 years old and living in Chesterfield, her father, who was 48 years old, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

At that time Silvestri, her mother, and two sisters became caregivers.

Host Don Marsh talked with Silvestri about her struggle at such a young age and how her father progressed into more severe forms of dementia.  Her memoir is, “Beside the Mountain: Finding Strength and Courage Through My Father's Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease.”
