Adam Allington

Adam grew up on a cherry farm in northern, Michigan.  He holds a BA in economics from Kalamazoo College.  Adam's radio career began in 2003 at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, Maine. He went on to cut his teeth filing stories for Maine Public Radio. Before coming to St. Louis Public Radio in 2006 Adam was was an international journalism fellow at Deutsche Welle in Bonn, Germany.  He has regularly files features for a variety of shows and networks including NPR, PRI, Marketplace and the BBC. He was awarded a prestigious Knight-Wallace Journalism Fellowship for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Mo. congressional redistricting may decrease political clout for metro region

State politicians were in St. Louis today to solicit public feedback on redrawing Missouri's congressional map from nine districts down to eight.

The outcome may mean a decrease in political clout for the metro region.

Peabody Energy to stay downtown, expand

St. Louis-based Peabody Energy announced today that it will keep its headquarters in downtown St. Louis for at least another 15 years.

Peabody is a Fortune 500 company employing more than 600 people in St. Louis.

The company had been offered a package of $10 million in Federal New Market tax credits to fund upgrades to their downtown high-rise.

Blunt: "everything has to be on the table" to reduce deficit

Then-U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt in 2010. Now-Senator Blunt said he sees little room for compromise when it comes to reducing the deficit.

The U.S. Senate announced today that it will accept a bill from the House to fund government for an additional two weeks, averting a government shutdown on Friday.

The House had proposed a budget which cut $60 billion in federal spending, which Senate Democrats complained was too much.

Siding with his former House colleagues, Missouri Senator Roy Blunt said he sees little room for compromise when it comes to reducing the deficit.

Compton Bridge to reopen tomorrow

The Compton Bridge in midtown St. Louis is set to reopen to traffic tomorrow.

Compton will be the primary detour during the 14-month reconstruction of the Grand Boulevard Bridge.
