A 40-year old Asian elephant at the St. Louis Zoo named "Donna" has tested positive for tuberculosis, but is expected to be just fine.

Donna the Elephant came to the St. Louis zoo as a 3-year old juvenile in 1971.

All elephants get complete medical evaluation each year including blood collection, vaccinations and trunk cultures to look for tuberculosis.

Randy Junge, the Zoo's Director of Animal Health said the 40-year-old pachyderm will live off-display for the next year, but won't be quarantined.

Motorists traveling around downtown St. Louis will see traffic backups and delays this weekend as the Missouri Department of Transportation is packing a laundry list of repairs into one, two-day stretch.

MoDOT is making a variety of lane and ramp repairs starting at Grand Boulevard and stretching to the Poplar Street Bridge.

The repairs come during the same weekend that 25,000 runners will be coming downtown for the GO! St. Louis Marathon.

Congressional budget talks appear headed in a positive direction today, but conservative spending cuts remain obstacles as Congress seeks to avert a government shutdown this weekend.

Missouri Republican Senator Roy Blunt continued to heap blame on Democrats for not passing a budget last year.

"They could have resolved them any way they wanted to last year,” Blunt said. “So their negotiating position is dramatically impacted by their unwillingness to deal with these issues when they were totally in control of everything."

Chris Novak from Maryland Heights is attending his ninth-straight opening day.

Like many Redbirds fans, Novak says he's hoping the Cardinals find a way to re-sign their MVP first-baseman Albert Pujols when his contract expires at the end of the season.
