O'Fallon City Council Measure Would Invalidate Federal Gun Control In Town

The city council in a St. Louis area town is considering a bill that would declare any federal, state or local laws prohibiting guns to be in violation of the U.S. and Missouri constitutions, rendering them invalid in the town.

The measure has been proposed in O'Fallon. The Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis reports it could be the subject of a vote on March 28.

O'Fallon to get new corporate headquarters

Air Evac Lifeteam, a provider of air medical transportation to rural communities, has announced its plans to open a new corporate headquarters in O’Fallon, in St. Charles County.

The move from West Plains, Mo. is part of major expansion for the company and is expected to create as many as 190 jobs.

The City of O’Fallon was chosen from a list of 20 other locations throughout Missouri and other states.

Former Bridgeton officer guilty of bribery

A former police officer in the St. Louis suburb of Bridgeton faces sentencing in July after pleading guilty to taking a $5,000 bribe.

The U.S. Attorney's office in St. Louis says 38-year-old Scott William Haenel of O'Fallon also admitted obstructing a federal investigation in his guilty plea on Wednesday.

Federal authorities say a person cooperating with the FBI met several times with Haenel between November and January and paid him $5,000. In exchange, Haenel agreed to help conceal a money laundering scheme involving drug trafficking money.

A federal prosecutor says the case against an ex-CIA officer charged with leaking classified documents to a reporter may not make it to trial because of potential problems with a witness.

Jeffrey Sterling of O'Fallon, Mo., worked for the CIA from 1993 to 2002. He is accused of leaking secrets about Iran to New York Times reporter James Risen.

A Virginia judge has granted bond to a former CIA officer from O'Fallon accused of leaking government secrets about Iran to a reporter for the New York Times.

Jeffrey Sterling had been in custody since his arrest on Jan. 6 on charges that he illegally disclosed classified documents to reporter James Risen between 2001 and 2006.
