I-64 Closed This Weekend At Jefferson, Construction Ongoing

The Missouri Department of Transportation will be closing all lanes of Interstate 64 between Jefferson Avenue and Hampton Avenue starting at 8 p.m. Friday night until 5 a.m. Monday morning.

The closures are part of a 3 month project to replace the 50 year old Jefferson overpass.

Eastbound on-ramps will be closed from McCausland to Ewing, and westbound on-ramps will be closed from Broadway to Grand.

MoDOT Set For Weekend I-64 Shutdown

Some drivers who normally use Interstate 64 to get downtown will have to find alternate routes this weekend.

Weather permitting, the Missouri Department of Transportation will shut down a portion of Interstate 64 at 8 p.m. Friday to demolish the bridges carrying Taylor and Newstead avenues over the highway.

Eastbound traffic will have to exit at Hampton, and westbound traffic at Forest Park Avenue.

MoDOT Begins Next Phase Of I-64 Construction

MoDOT is starting construction on Interstate 64 east of Kingshighway.

Three lanes of traffic will be open both east and westbound during the weekdays, but traffic will go down to one lane each way overnight.

MoDOT area engineer Deanna Venker says this is really the second phase of the new I-64 project.

“Just east of Kingshighway all the way down to Boyle was the last section of I-64 that didn't get done,” Venker said. “And you do have four bridges that need to be replaced, as well as an interchange.”

In addition to lane closures on the Blanchette Bridge, MoDOT will close the two right lanes on westbound I-64 across the Poplar Street Bridge approximately an hour after the start of Game 4 of the NLCS, which would be around 8 p.m.
